Collaborative Practice is a new way for you to resolve
disputes respectfully -- without going to court -- while working with trained
professionals who are important to all areas of your life.
The heart of Collaborative Practice or
Collaborative Divorce (also called "no-court divorce", "divorce with dignity",
"peaceful divorce") is to offer you and your spouse or partner the support,
protection, and guidance of your own lawyers without the usual litigation.
Collaborative Practice is a means of resolving
legal conflicts through principled negotiations. Collaboratively trained
practitioners (attorneys, mental health specialists, and financial specialists)
work as a team to maintain dignity, privacy and cooperation. Collaboratively
negotiated settlements are longer lasting agreements including mutually agreed
upon co-parenting plans established without the interference of court room drama
or harm of the adversarial system.
As a professional, non-profit organization, Collaborative Divorce Solutions of Tidewater (CDST) is
committed to promoting and developing collaborative practice in Southside Hampton Roads.
