Team Approach

The Collaborative Approach to divorce is unlike any of the traditional litigation and mediation models.

CDST, Inc. promotes the practice of resolving disputes in a non-adversarial manner and the professional development of attorneys, divorce coaches, child specialists and financial professionals who facilitate the process.

It is innovative and transforms the nature of the divorce process. Collaborative Practice Teams support each spouse as the experts work with their clients to find constructive solutions to the issues of divorce and to establish meaningful goals for the future.

No Court

Collaborative Practice resolves disputes respectfully - without going to court

Collaborative Practice offers couples ending their marriage a team of qualified professionals who work with their clients to help them make decisions about the legal, financial, and emotional issues of divorce. The collaborative approach to divorce is based on three principles:

  1. A solution that takes into account the highest priorities of the family.
  2. An open exchange of information by both spouses.
  3. A pledge not to go to court.

Team Members

The Collaborative Team members are experts in their own fields.

Each spouse has a collaboratively trained Attorney, who advises the clients on matters of law: child custody, visitation, support, spousal support, retirement, and property distribution.

A Financial Neutral reviews the family's financial status to assist the clients in the aspects of marital division, and in developing realistic choices for the future.

Divorce Coaches help each client work through the emotional and communication challenges which could interfere with achieving a lasting divorce settlement.

A Child Specialist meets with the children and helps them talk about their feelings and concerns about the divorce. The child specialist informs the team of the children's hopes and fears which are considered in planning their future lives, making the children "a priority - not a casualty."
