This is my second divorce and my first experience with Collaborative Divorce. In either case divorce is NOT an easy journey. The Collaborative part definitely makes it more tolerable. Most importantly, I cannot envision that we could have ended up with such a flexible agreement to account for most our wishes otherwise. What I learned from this experience is that it is not the other person that we need to trust, but the process.

I found that the Collaborative process allowed me a large measure of control in the outcome of the divorce. My case was somewhat complex, since my ex-wife was unable to work and take care of the children, but we were able to develop a solution by working with the financial and child specialists. Combining all the available resources and conducting brain storming sessions allowed for many more options than might be available by any one individual.
